General Information about JTCA


ABOUT JTCA
(Japan Technical Communicators Association)

After under studying of pre-organized association for about 5 years organized by major Electronic or Electric Corporations and related Manual Productive Companies, who were interested in Technical Writing or Technical Communication "Technologies", Japan Technical Comminicators Association, JTCA, was established officially on January 1st of 1992.

Currently, JTCA is consists of about 70 corporation members and 300 personal members, including major corporations such as Fujitsu, Hitachi, Toshiba, NEC, IBM, Xerox, Sony, Canon, Ricoh, and other corporations, many productions & free lancers, who are realizing of need the "Technical Communication Technologies" especially in their field of user support, user interface and manuals.

Purposes of establishment

The Purposes of establishment of JTCA are as follows:

  1. Propagation of "Technical Communiation (TC) Technologies" and improvement of TC Technologies in Japan
  2. Encouragement and support of studies of TC technologies
  3. Establishment of socialized position for specialists in TC fields
  4. Promotion of information exchange among members and providing chances of presentation of the results of TC studies
  5. Education of the future "Technical Communicators"
  6. Enhancement of technologies' applications and activities' areas of TC through the exchange of TC cultures among the peripheral fields of TC business.

  1. Establishment of production guide lines for manuals
    (for paper based classic manuals & electronic documents)
  2. Establishment of evaluation guide lines for manuals
    (for paper based classic manuals & electronic documents)
  3. Establishment of contests & awards standardization

  4. Establishment of educational guide lines
    • curriculum, carrier path, etc.
    • "TC Qualification Test"
    • "TC Symposium"
    • "TC seminar"
  5. Research and Development of TC technologies
    (user guidance, user interface, electronic DTP, etc.)
